Welcome to Recovering Academics! Once an academic, always an academic. Can you really<\/em> ever leave? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are a community of ex-academics, all over the U.S. and the rest of the world. We are bona fide PhD’s, ABD’s and got-so-fed-up-we-left-early-‘ers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You will find here stories out<\/strong><\/em> of academia – full of entertainment, poignant moments, and let’s not forget plenty of schadenfreude. We will also post career resources and links that might be helpful to you on your post-academic journey. Believe it or not, some of us have actually left and successfully<\/em> begun careers of all sorts, and we have wisdom to share for those of you lurking on here who are thinking of getting out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Whether you are long out of academia, have just left, are considering walking out, or just want to know what on earth gets academics hot and bothered, stick around a while and read our posts, stories, interviews, and more. This is your haven, your tribe: welcome home, to all you fellow wanderers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
